Level 2 EV charger install — Meridian, Idaho
A hardwired 48A charger added without touching the service, using a load calculation and a clean exterior conduit run off the panel wall.

Scope
Owner wanted a hardwired 48A charger at the garage door side of the driveway, not the back wall where the panel sits. The question was whether the existing 200A service could carry it alongside a heat pump and an electric dryer.
Site conditions
Panel is on the interior garage wall, finished drywall, with a conditioned space on the other side. Driveway apron sits eight feet from the panel wall, and the homeowner did not want conduit crossing the garage door header.
What we installed
A 60A breaker on the existing panel feeding a hardwired charger through rigid conduit around the exterior corner, set at working height so the cable does not drag on the concrete. Charger configured to its onboard load management so it backs off when the heat pump runs.
What we watched for
The load calculation came in tight, which is exactly when people skip it. With load management enabled the service stays inside its rating even on the coldest morning, and we documented the settings so a future service call does not undo them.
How it holds up
No service upgrade, no trenching, and a charger that reaches both parking spots. If the household adds a second EV, the same run has room for a second circuit without re-opening the wall.
